The Design and Production of The Fifth Battle Box for Gripping Beast
BACKGROUND
Gripping Beast are the manufacturers and retailers of quality 28mm war-games figures and accessories. Based in Evesham, Gripping Beast have been creating and delivering a huge range miniature war-game products, covering various historical periods, for over 15 years and have a huge collector following.
THE CHALLENGE
With a large collection of historical products and accessories available and the regular introduction of new product lines, Gripping Beast required two new packaging boxes to be designed and produced. The creation of additional battle boxes signified a total of five new boxes being designed and created by Areca Design. They needed not only to protect the contents inside, but also create a sense of quality and user experience before the gamer becomes a warlord...
Gripping Beast also required a brand new Website to promote their popular products. This online platform required a simple navigation system, which would allow dedicated customers to identify and purchase various items with ease. The Website Design needed to be not only fully functional, but also successful in providing the initial point of call and exciting platform for an immersive war-gaming experience.
OUR SOLUTION
Product Packaging Development
The packaging design for the complete 5-box set used intricate, detailed, hand-drawn artwork supplied by Gripping Beast, to re-enact true historic battle scenes. The style and branding continued from the previous packaging boxes to ensure continuity throughout. The colour schemes, branding and historic skirmish themes from the new website build also complimented the design, in addition to providing informative details about the product within.
Website Design
By recreating an immersive, fully functional platform, the new Gripping Beast website establishes an online Lair of miniature war-game products, with a clear historical theme. From Ancients through to Modern, 28mm Figures to War-game Accessories, the product areas are clearly established with relevant, exciting imagery.
It was important when designing the comprehensive website, that the product categories and themes would attract the hobby creators, as well as tournament and campaign day attenders. We also ensured that the product quality was demonstrated clearly throughout; identifying Gripping beast as official manufacturers of their various products and providing quality image products for visitors to witness.
