Website Content Pitfalls

Updating your website content on a regular basis is extremely important. This will boost your SEO rankings and ultimately make your website more valuable to the user.

However, there are some pitfalls to avoid when it comes to website content.

1.Vanity Articles

Avoid writing articles that are completely focused on yourself. People don’t want to read about how amazing you are, instead try and write articles that solve people’s problems. For example, if you are a cleaning company, upload blog articles such as ‘How to get red wine out of carpet’.

This type of ‘problem solving’ content is likely to be searched in Google which will mean that people are more likely to come across your website rather than just writing blogs about yourself.

2. Not thinking about the reader

A huge mistake to avoid when it comes to website content is not thinking about the reader. When you are writing content, think about it from your customers point of view. What would they like to learn, know, discover about your business, products or services.

Tailoring this content to your customers will provide a better user experience meaning that they are more likely to buy into your business.

3. It might not work for everyone

As a business, you may have a number of different customer groups that you are trying to target through your website. If so, always think about how to speak to each customer group.

For example, a personal training business may write a website blog article about ‘fat loss’. However, they may have customers that also want to gain weight. To overcome this, simply add an additional call to action in the article such as ‘however, if you are looking to gain weight read our previous article on smart weight gain… click here’.

We hope you found these pitfalls useful and now know what to avoid when writing website content.
